RULES OF THE CLUB
1. The name of the Club shall be The Centenary Club (hereinafter referred to as ‘The Club’).
2. The objects of the Club shall be the active participation in cycling and social intercourse.
3. The officers shall consist of President, Vice President, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Dinner Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and six members of the Committee and Past Presidents who are ex-officio (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Officials’), all to be elected annually.
4. The subscriptions and entrance fee shall be determined by the Committee and payable on 1st January each year after official approval at the Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.). If any member’s current subscription has not been paid by the date of the A.G.M., it will be assumed that such member has resigned from the Club.
5. Membership shall be confined to senior executives associated with the Cycle Industry. Unless otherwise agreed by the Committee, membership will automatically lapse when a member leaves the industry for any reason other than upon retirement.
6. No prospective member shall be eligible for election unless they have taken part as an active cyclist on one of the weekend tours organised by the Club, the only exception to this rule shall be when an executive of the Cycle Industry has reached the age of 60 years, at the time they become eligible for election.
7. Any member wishing to introduce a new member shall submit the name of their nominee to the Committee for approval. Not until this has been done shall the nominee be asked to make application to the Secretary for the necessary forms of membership. The Officials and Committee shall have power to elect the applicant by a majority vote.
8. The Headquarters of the Club shall be any premises for the time being convenient.
9. A General Meeting of the Club shall be held at least once per annum for the purposes of electing the Officials, revising the Rules, passing of the Balance Sheet, deciding the programme, and transferring any other business the Committee or the members may bring forward.
10. The findings of the Committee, by majority vote, shall be final in all matters appertaining to the Club.
11. During cycle weekends, members and their guests are expected to be smartly turned out as appropriate to cycling and befitting the image of the Club. Cycle runs will be conducted at a moderate pace with due courtesy and consideration given to senior members and other road users. Bicycles without full mudguards are to be ridden in a manner not likely to cause any inconvenience to other participants.
